I got my start in the music biz at a very young age @ Metal Blade Records in the San Fernando Valley right out of High School. At that time you name it, I did everything under the sun and BOY was it ever a learning experience working for a company that dealt exclusively with Heavy Metal. Some of the bright spots I had during that time was college radio, promotions and putting together compilations (like "Metal Massacre" for example)...From that I eventually signed: Angkor Wat, Sacred Reich and yes the Goo Goo Dolls (**Before ya say I should be "rolling in $$$", sadly being a novice I NEVER received any points on any of their LPs( hell I barely knew what points were!) I look back and say: what a real "lesson well learned"! Besides all that, I was most proud of those years because I was given an opportunity to travel around, work with bands I saw in the clubs and meet other people in the industry from all over the world.
In 1990 I started over, but on a bigger scale when I was hired at Capitol Records under a new regime where eventually I was able to sign Texas alternative group Butthole Surfers and was also given a golden opportunity to work with metal faves: Exodus,Megadeth, Iron Maiden and many others.
After that short stint there were ZERO music industry gigs to be had Anywhere! Glad I got out then since the 'biz these days is in such dire straits with everyone getting swallowed up. Once the Los Angeles earthquake hit in '94, all kinds of shit changed from that point on. I did the band thing for a while, wrote a bunch of songs, worked on my artwork etc, but slowly found myself for some reason migrating into TV/Film work for the next 5 years or so to "make a living"...!!!
Presently I share my collection and try to put it to some use and DJ-ing is a perfect channel for me to keep this music alive that I love so much.
Some of the clubs/venues you may have caught me in action: * KEY CLUB * KNITTING FACTORY* VINE BAR and MALIBU INN
You can currently find me around town, doing what I do best: bringing the Metal to the Masses!
